My Portfolio

I carve stone mainly from the Portland Purbeck hills in Dorset as it is so responsive and versatile; it can lend to a gutsy textural piece with lovely deep obvious chisel marks, or can be taken down from chisel to files to sand paper and polished to a super tactile smooth finish. The Whitbed and Freestone beds are perfect for letter carving. (For something 150 million years old it is really rather special). I have a good sense of style, whether my customers would like something traditional or modern… I have many influences and I am equally as enraptured by the work of Brancusi as I am with a carving of a Green Man. My aim is to sink a bit of soul into the stone.
